Addons Detector is developed and supported by Denis Peretto from Italy and Peter de Kraker from The Netherlands.
The idea of Addons Detector was born in June 2011. Denis was searching for a app to detect push notification ads. Not finding anything he liked, he decided to create one that not only detected push ads, but other addons as well. In October 2011 Denis released the first version of Addons Detector.
Peter somehow stumbled upon the app and really liked the idea. Having several ideas to improve the scanner, he contacted Denis and they decided to collaborate.
Fast forward to 2017, we now have a large amount of addons that we detect, have a much improved app with more functionality and dynamic definition updates and have a large backend with scanresults and app information. Full of ideas, we still continue to improve Addons Detector and work on ways to monetize our data to support development, without comprising our ideal of commitment to our users privacy.
Who are we?
I’m 40 and work as a business-intelligence professional for a manufacturing company. I graduated in 1999 with a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Trento, Italy. I have always been keen on technology. I started out as a java developer. Five years ago, I switched to Android-application development and have enjoyed the change.
I’m 32 years old and live in Leiden, The Netherlands. I have my own mobile app development company Umito, that I founded in January 2012. I really enjoy programming and most of the time I am working on Addons Detector, free-lance app projects or my own apps. I mainly program in Java, but love Ruby and C#. I enjoy working on Addons Detector and hope to build it out to something much bigger then when we started this!
